Not sure if you’ve noticed (I know the whole Jordyn and Khloe has taken up a lot of our attention recently), but there is new trend coming up in the beverage game where the big ol’ booze companies are actually wanting you to purchase drinks with less alcohol (what da faq, right?). In fact, there’s actually been a whole heap of articles written about it by some fairly reputable organisations such as The Washington Post, Forbes, and USA Today.
5. BrewDog Nanny State
The well-known brewery amongst craft beer nerds has been leading the charge in the craft non-alcoholic beer market. Nanny State was the first cab off the rank for low alcohol beer for the brewery with the second being the equally great low alcohol beer Raspberry Blitz. Brewing a full flavoured craft beer at 0.5% is no easy task and because of this, Nanny State is a force to be reckoned with. With a backbone of 8 different speciality malts. Nanny State will tantalise your taste buds and leave you yearning for more.
4. Brunswick Aces Hearts Blend
These guys hold the proud title of being Australia’s first non alcoholic spirit that has been inspired by gin (round of applause). Urbanlist recently did an article on them and their drinks. Brunswick Aces Hearts blend is inspired by spicy warm gin, leading with notes of cassia bark and ginger, beautifully balanced by sweet citrus and native Australian Wattleseed. You can make a simple Brunswick Aces & Tonic for a refreshing summer drink. YES. PLEASE.
3. Seedlip Spice
Oh Seedlip Spice, you delicious non-alcoholic spirit, how I enjoy you so much. I have very fond memories of sipping on a refreshing Seedlip Spice and Tonic whilst spending time with my friends and family on the summer Christmas break. IT WAS THE BEST. Seedlip Spice is the world’s first distilled non-alcoholic botanical spirit drink made in London, England It is sugar, allergen, and sweetener free, with no artificial flavours. It is a complex and aromatic blend of barks, spices and citrus peels, and is distilled using traditional methods and botanicals. Best served with tonic at a yoga studio in Bondi.
2. uNN Indian Pale Ale
UNN is one of the freaking best non-alcoholic beers I have ever tasted. Ever. There is no shying away from the fact that it’s certainly up there on the pricing scale (being imported all the way from Germany) and this is reflected in the quality. It’s full bodied and beer-y, in the best kind of way. This bad bae is the winner of the silver medal - Alkoholfrei IPA at the 2017 Meiniger International Craft Beer Awards, and once you try it, you'll understand why. It has a fruity taste, a long-lasting finish and leaves you wanting more. Dang.
1. Teetotal GNT
These guys claim that in blind taste tests 90% of people couldn’t tell the difference between an actual GnT and this booze free non alcoholic GnT. I was sceptical at first, by my oh my they deliver. It was former research chemist and doctor of chemistry Ian Jowett who was tasked with first developing the recipe for Teetotal GnT using only all natural, high quality ingredients and he spent many months refining the taste until he was happy with the result. It has all the flavour of a GnT with natural ingredients and botanicals, without the booze. Ideal for the mid-week social occasions when you don't wanna rock up to work the next day being (too) dusty.
